Welcome to my blog!

This is blog is about me dabbling with a little bit of everything, and not being particularly good at anything. And about the places I've been either on vacation or SAG:ing my husbands bicycle trips.

Bike Barge Trip - Leiden to Delft - August 2015 - Day 5

After breakfast we headed out again. We backtracked back to the coast again to a beach area called Wassenaar. We had a short break there and then continued towards the Hague. We stopped at a Water-tower Pump-station at the outskirts of the Hague for a photo opportunity before continuing.

We stopped for lunch at the Haagse Bos park. Inside the park is the Huis ten Bosch royal palace. We were able to see it through the gates, but it is not open to the public. After lunch we continued to Voorburg, a small town next to the Hague where we had a short break again for coffee, shopping, sightseeing etc.

We turned more inland after our little break and headed to Rijswijk and to the Delftse Pauw Factory, It has made pottery since the seventeenth century. We had a nice tour of the factory. They told us how they produce the pottery and paint it and they even had couple of artists at work there. After the tour we went shopping at their store and ended up buying a nice pitcher. And we were very lucky since the artist who had painted it happened to be working there that day. Our tour guide asked us if we wanted to have our picture taken with him and the pitcher, of course we said yes. Luckily we didn't have to lug that pitcher with us on a bike, instead they shipped it to our home and it arrived in perfect shape.

After everyone had done their shopping we continued to Delft. We had an Italian dinner tonight. After the dinner our guide Teo did a tour of Delft, but I decided not to go since I was planning on staying in Delft all of tomorrow. Right next to us was barge which we had to cross over to get to ours and we noticed a familiar person on it. It was the captain from our trip here two years ago when we were on the Magnifique. Captain Karl was on a different boat, the Angeline this time.
